Compass, the financial adviser for homosexual couples has again expressed its concern that gay partners in Civil Partnerships should be treated as equally as a married heterosexual couple as currently, couples in Civil Partnerships are being treated as single.
In underwriting terms, this means that you will have higher premiums as you are considered single and are presumed to be more promiscuous.
Married heterosexual couples enjoy lower premiums for their cover, because they are presumed to be less promiscuous.
Compass managing director Chris Morgan says: "The majority of life assurance companies are charging single male premium rates, even if the couple applying have signed the Civil Partnership register. This means that hundreds of gay men are being overcharged for their life assurance."
