Life Insurance News: Friends Provident to interview applicants via the telephone

In a bid to make the processing of income protection applications more efficient and to reduce the number of claims which fail due to non-disclosure, Friends Provident is to begin interviewing its applicants over the telephone with the help of medical staff.
Experienced nurses, from MorganAsh, will conduct the telephone interviews, at a time convenient to the applicant, and will enquire about medical history and specific disclosures.
The protection products and actuarial manager for Friends Provident, Mark Jones, said, “This will benefit the customer as it means we can make a more informed underwriting decision. Most importantly, there is less chance that a claim will be disputed and we believe this will reduce non-disclosure.”
